The transportation of frozen meat, fish and food products through the port of Poti Georgia.

The transportation of frozen meat, fish and food products, requiring special temperature conditions, via the port of Poti is one of the services provided by Simplextrans.

The frozen meat  products (legs, cattle meat, frozen fish etc) are carried from the ports of Europe, South and North America to the port of Poti in refrigerator containers (usually 40 REF).

Further, in Poti the transshipment of containers of frozen food in the refrigerator section of the MPS (usually belonging Georgian Railway) is made either directly (containers – Refrigerated section), or through a refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of up to 2,000 tons.

From Poti the railway transportation of frozen meat and fish is carried in the direction of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, other CIS countries and Afghanistan using the railway ferries Alyat – Turkmenbashi and Alyat – Kuryk (Kazakhstan).

For the transportation of the products, the refrigerated sections “BMZ” (Bryansk Engineering factory products) are used, consisting of 4-5-6 freight cars carrying capacity of 46-47 tons each. This way, the total weight of transported batches varies between 160 and 282 tons.
